MOD adjusting questions
I downloaded the BORG Last night and installed them. Well, they are playing great, but there is a slight problem. The Borg technology now seems to be available to all the races at the start of the game, which isnt so good. Anyway, I made it so that it was still possible for races to get the borg tech, but they had to take a racial attribute for it called BORG technology science for 2000 pts.
My question is now this. When I did this, will this keep the original borg race from having this tech area for free? and if so, how do I program a technology to be race specific? where would I enter the code and how to show that the borg are to have this technology for free? |

The borg AI needs to be adjusted to have that racial tech. In the AI General files, you will find fields for advanced racial traits. Enter it there and make sure to adjust the numbers so the AI will take it.

I have the same problem and am not sure how to adjust the numbers so the borg will take it. What are you saying they need to do? I presume you would need to set the initial race options to zero: (ie: Race Opt 1 Num Characteristics := 0) since that looks like it is about 2000 points of upgrades, delete all the race opt changes, and then set the first of the advanced traits to the borg technology (ie: Race Opt 1 Adv Trait 1 := Borg Technology). The rest of the options should follow a similar vein. That part appears straightforward, but how does the AI then handle more than 2000 points to allocate? If you allow more options, then won't the AI have a way not to select borg technology? |

What I did was this. I went into racial traits and under racial traits, I made a new science called "Borg Technolgy Science". Then I made the Borg Technology accessible by taking this racial trait. This way, it kept the borg technology from being accessible to all the races. I was basically able to turn it off unless you had the trait.
My problem now is getting the borg to get this trait for free. In my opinion, they shouldnt have to take this 2000 point trait. Im trying to get it programed into their AI for this. For the Borg's Trait, im actually doing the 3000 point trait for emotionless. Im going to work with it some more tonight when I get home and pray I can get it into there AI General Files like it was said in the post before yours. Ill post if it works. IF you need the code I used for the racial trait, let me know and I'll post the tech file and racial trait file for my game here. |

There were 2 attemps at making the borg super powerful,
1. borg tech 2. assimalation Tech They were both by different authors, Some of the features will not work in Version 1.49. I think that with the extraction (Malfadorian) by HHadrian Aventine this would make the Borg the super race they meant to be in TNG. I have played the two mods together as a human player (asimilation plus borg], but dont have the skills to combine the three mods into one, but this would be a challenge that would would be unstopable, perhaps a scenerio would do? |

There is no way to get the AI to cheat, and steal an expensive racial tech for free.
If the AI can do it, a human can too by loading the EMP. Just spend the points, or make the tech free and state that "humans should not take this racial tech". |

Okies folks. I got it to work on the borg. I had to alter the ai general file for the borg, the rearch file for the main game, and the racial attributes file. But it now seems to work. I think im going to alter the cost of racial though so that any player who takes it, is going to find it not so easy. This way, only the borg will really have it. IF anyone wants it, just email me or post here. Ill get the files to you.

Actually Suicide_Junkie, I think I have a general ai file for the Borg completed. Going to play test it today to make sure it works. IM not doing an EMP file for it. IM more concerned about the AI doing it when I play the game so they are more of a challenge.
IF it works like I have it programmed, it will be a tough race to conquer. If it does work, I'll try and get the general file posted here within a day or 2. |
