A question
I noticed a strange thing. It happens rarely, but happens. When you shoot at the tank or another AFV, it follows with the sound of explosion (like when you totally destroy it, not immobilise), but the tank is still "alive". Maybe someone knows what it is. Maybe main gun destroyed or part of ammunition or something?

Re: A question
What is the the resulting hit effect message you get on such a hit?
If it's a non-destruction result with 1 or more "*" characters appended then you have only damaged the target some, and so it might well shoot back this turn or later depending on morale etc. Not all hits penetrate, and not all penetrating hits are fatal. I'm not sure what sounds get played on non-destructive penetrations - non-penetrating hits play the "splang" sound IIRC. But then again, I turned off sounds when I got the SP1 demo and have never bothered since :)! Andy |
Re: A question
I know what you mean I have heard it before but not for awhile... that's mainly because I don't have real time to play. It's one of those things that is probably impossible to get repeatable save game but it is, as you say, rare ........... a " c'est la guerre "

Re: A question
Yeah I've experienced that. Don't know what it means, and it doesn't seem to happen often enough to significantly affect gameplay. Anyway "if Steel Panthers be the food of love, play on, play on..."

Re: A question
Yes, same thoughts actually :) I asked just in case if this could be a "special feature" I didn't know about :) Thanks for the help.

Re: A question
What i've noticed, there is some damage done here more often(still rarely) in arty barrage's or airal attacks though.

Re: A question
I have not had this happen in awhile but that's only because I don't get to play as much as work.
IF INDEED this is MakeSound(72); that is being called in this case that narrows it down to one (1) point in code.. *IF* that's the sound that is playing Don |
Re: A question
More likely to be the large explosion sound, 4, which is called all over for blown up stuff...
IF we want to narrow this down then useful information is really required, more than "this stuff happens sometimes". e.g. - what precisely was firing at whom with what sort of weapon and ammo and did you hit or miss it? If you hit it, what hit message was displayed?. "My Tiger 2 fired at a T-70 with HEAT and the big boom occurred but nothing happened" might narrow things down a bit. At least then we could set up a test scenario with tank A and target b and blaze away till we get the required result(or not..:(). |
