SPWW2 Setup

I would like to give SPWW2 a try however, I am not sure I installed the free game version correctly.

After installing the main game zip file, the game shows to be a version 5.0. If I am understanding the instructions correctly, since my game is already showing to be a version 5.0 I don't need to install the Consolidation Patch. Is this correct?

So to recap, I first installed the main game zip and then installed the winSPWW2 2013 Patch.

Did I install the game the proper way or do I need to redo it all and use the Consolidation Patch?

Thanks

Re: SPWW2 Setup

That's correct.
The Consolidation Patch is for updating older installations.

There used to be a whole bunch of individual patches that needed to be installed in the correct sequenze, but they have all been rolled into the main installer.
So now you only need the installer, and the one patch that's come out since then.

Only thing to keep in mind is that the game doesn't like being installed in a UAC-managed folder (i.e. "Program Files") but I think the current installer defaults to a different path, anyway.

Re: SPWW2 Setup

The consolidated patch is really now only provided for holders of an older (1.0) physical or downloaded CD edition bought some time back, should they need to patch up from that image if say the computer crashed or they move over to a new one.

The newest editions are imaged up to 5.0 (6.0 for MBT).

However, applying the consolidated patch to a 5.0 image would have no detrimental effect. Other than being redundant of course!.

(The website probably does need a blurb on that point though)
