Game Story: GalacticCorp
I'm going to be a setting up a game tonight playing as a Galactic Scale corporation, sort of like a cross between the Ferengi and current Multinational corporations. The sole goal of my empire/corporation will be to amass as much mineral reserves as possible, thus neccessitating lots of storage facilities. Minerals are money in a sort of way, so Radioactives and Organics will be thought of as different currencies.
The best part will be seeing how to roleplay running into enemies, as GalacticCorp views everything as a corporation, because they have never had a government as such. I plan to post logs of my progress. But this idea has me thinking about a mod that would work similar to how i'm going to play GalacticCorp. If there was some way to set victory conditions, so that any empire that had some huge amount of Minerals, Radioactives and Organics would win, that would really add to the flavor of this game. The race stats I plan to play with will be: + to maintenance + to trade + to mineral production + to organic production + to radioactives production - to tolerance - to reproduction - to physical combat - to attack - to defense I might go with some of the specal traits, not sure yet, maybe the one where you don't need space ports, that would fit. |
Re: Game Story: GalacticCorp
Sounds interesting, however have question, why a negative in Tolerance? I would think as a corp. trying to amass resources (money) you would have a little more tolerance towards races in order to obtain the income and war would be Last resort as it costs resources (money) to engage in one thus counter productive

Re: Game Story: GalacticCorp
Tolerence refers to *physical* tolerence- the range of conditions the empire's citizens can handle.
Since this empire is probably staffed by overweight lazy buricrats, low tolerence makes sense http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Phoenix-D |
Re: Game Story: GalacticCorp
Mac,
Tolerance doesn't have anything to do with relations towards other races. It deals with your races ability to handle harsh pysical conditions. It translates into a change in population rate, that's all. Geoschmo EDIT: TIE! Hey, I think my post should have been first due to my rank. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif [ 04 February 2002: Message edited by: geoschmo ]</p> |

Mac:
That's environmental tolerance, I believe. Since the race's reproduction has been slashed, tolerance can be cut as well. Only the Jubilant people on Optimal worlds will reproduce, so I assume Spacefan's planning on trading for slaves/employees. Spacefan: That looks like it will play out like "Pirates in Expensive Suits" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif All you'd have to do is swap production & trade for Attack & defense, and you'd be swashbucklers http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif You should find a hearty challenge in this game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif PS: feel free to post your story in the game stories thread, thats what its there for http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif . Re: Game Story: GalacticCorp
I think the main difference between my game and P&N will be my huge numbers of warehouses and large production capacity. And the weakness will be my military, in all likelihood, after all, how likely would a CEO be able to justify purchasing a Dreadnought to the board of directors.
I think GalacticCorp will have huge warehouse planets manned by hardly any population, and then most all of my population will be on the mining planets, and a bit of it on R&D planets. My ship names should be interesting. (Franchise will be my class name for colony ships |
Re: Game Story: GalacticCorp
Tks guys, even after all the games I've played, I've still got a lot to learn, tks for the explanations http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif makes more sense to me now

Re: Game Story: GalacticCorp
What I meant, was that the CEO would be very much like a pirate.
You are both very greedy empires, with a restrictive budget, trying to maximize the return on investment. You just have different names for slaves, booty, and plundering, (Interns, revenue, and price gouging http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif ) |

Correct! Do it the Hostile Takeover Inc's way! (HTI is an empire I'm playing on PBW) - grab your dreadnought from the enemy and refit it! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |
