Machineguns Seem Too Effective

Machineguns seem too effective. On tanks. How much bang would come off anything above 75mm?

Anything above 75mm would have quite a bang. Just imagine how big a 75mm round is...

Ever fired a machine gun, or been under fire from one? They seem to be about right to me. And the effect varies with the target. A heavy tank will be able to shrug off machine gun fire, as far as damage is concerned, but it is distracting to the crew

Precisely. Crew-served small arms are far superior to individual ones (including riflemen), specially trained snipers excepted. Once again the game gets it right.

Tanks coax and bow MG's should be less effective than main guns. (which should have more than a bit of explosive power in the larger calibres)
