Editing Unit IDs - Possible?
 

Pretty much the title. Is there a method for editing the unit names/designations/IDs? For example, from J0 to HQ 1Sqd 3Plt or something similar. I think I remember being able to do this, but with the multitude of variations of SP not sure if it was winSP, and I've looked at the manual.

When your unit is selected, simply press the space key and click on the name of the unit.
A window opens, you put the name you want and you press the enter key.
Same thing if you want to edit the name of your leader.

That method works for a regular game or scenarios but be advised that once you click on the name the game clears what's there now, there is no cancel button. If it's a scenario you are working on then use ScenHack, which allows cut-and-paste and speeds up the process.

If you meant the ID letter (A0, BB03 etc) then that is decided by the place where your unit is in the list and the formation its in within the ORBAT.

It's not a field that is held in the OOB data, its a disposable display string that is calculated 'on the fly' by a subroutine whenever a unit is listed.
