How do you overcome self-destruct?
 

I've been testing out the SEIV and SEIV Gold demos (waiting for the full Version to come out) and I want to know, is there is any way to overcome a ships self-destruct mechanism when trying to board a ship?

I've tried disabling it by taking out the engines with an engine destroying weapon (self-destruct description said that it overloaded the engines) but that proved fruitless. Is there some tech in the full Version that can overcome this pesky self nuking component or am I just going about this the wrong way? Any advice would be welcome.

The only way (unmodded SE4) is to pound the ship with normal weapons until you kill the SDD.

And since it's a 10kt component, it's not an easy task. (Usually, in my experience, the SDD is one of the Last components to go.)
