Artillery

I recently upgraded to the 8.1 version? Started a long campaign as Germany. In my core I have some artillery but I cant use it for some reason.

Ive done a few searches but cant find anything. Im sure its probably user error as I tent to me a moron occasionally.

When I click the Arty button, either pre-game or in game it gives me some message about not being available. Ive try two different games now, both were random meeting engagements.

Re: Artillery

Read the game notes from version 6 ( two years ago )

Quote:

Artillery can no longer be plotted (including air transports and spotters) on turn 0, or 1 if the battle is a meeting engagement or you are the delayer or defender. A scenario designer can still plot artillery as he desires in his scenario, however. The AI may still plot fire as before. This is deliberate to penalise a human player who packs the approach roads. Note that the bombardment screen may still be entered to plot FDF gold spots, or toggle the blast radius display. The arty units just will not show up till post turn 1 if unavailable in the scenario for pre-game bombardment

Figured it might of been something like that added. Last I played was version 5 so now there is 8+. Simple forum question saved me a hour of searching, thanks dude.

I don't think that you are the first one with the same problem - I think I have seen the same question a couple of times before.

Currently the message shown on the bombardment screen for these cases reads "Plotting disabled due to mission type". Perhaps it could be improved a bit by adding a mention about how long the disabling lasts, for example "Plotting disabled until end of turn 1 due to mission type"?

Re: Artillery

We wouldn't need any message if everyone actually took the time to read the game guide............
