Weapons upgrades in long campaign
 

I am thinking of trying a long campaign, 60-80 scenarios over 30 years. I know during that time period improved weapons will become available for infantry units. Will I need to 'change' my infantry units between scenarios to get the more modern versions of their weapons or will they automatically upgrade these?

You will need to manually change the units, there are no automatic upgrades provided by the game.

At least they are generally cheap units.

The only way to change something is to do so in the upgrade screen between battles.

Units don't "magically" update, nor will formations adopt a more modern TO&E if one comes along.
