Move Take Back
When playing against the AI it's possible to take a move back provided it didn't reveal any enemy units.
Why isn't this available when playing PBEM? |
Re: Move Take Back
Because it provides "negative intelligence" cheating (by the fact that if you could not retake the move, then something has spotted your unit or you have spotted him). So a cheat could make several moves, attempt to retake them, and so build up knowledge of enemy LOS.

Re: Move Take Back
Buy 3 or 4 fast cheap vehicles as scouts and you could very quickly determine things if you kept taking the move back.
Just take more time to ensure you don't miss click a unit which is I think its real purpose, still doesn't help when you accidently drive into a building though :) |

If this was involved in contests for money it would be understandable that strict measures are required. But my friends and I play this for fun, and I assume the vast majority of other players do so as well. The move mechanics in the game make movement errors very easy to make and when they happen, it's quite annoying. I can't speak for the rest of the player community, but when I'm annoyed I'm not having fun. |

Most stuff in the game has been asked for by the players - the great thing about this forum is we can talk to the developers directly and they listen! |

You asked why and that's why...... what it "portrays" is reality for a lot of players If is it's true that " my friends and I play this for fun" then why are you playing full security PBEM ?? "Fun" players use basic security that does not require PW's and with basic you can take back moves just like a regular game. |

Re: Move Take Back
Basic mode needs a password. It's more forgiving of file handling errors etc. Basic mode is the only mode that lets you play on different computers (e.g. play on your laptop when away from home on a trip).
Basic mode is all that is required for games between friends. Secure mode requires to be played on the same computer, in the same slot, attempts to count loads and exits etc. Secure mode is for competitions and similar. |

Set up a standard PBEM with both sides set all controls to human. When that screen appears, simply press continue. You will then brought to the save game screen, pick a slot and then send the files from that slot to your opponent.....no PW needed Don |
Re: Move Take Back
Ah ! I'd lost the thread of this report.......the discussion involves campaigns not stand alone PBEM so yes, Andy is correct a PW is indeed required for a PBEM campaign. My comments were for a single PBEM game and you don't get to take back a move in a PBEM campaign.......sorry for the confusion, I was rushed the first read through
