newbie, newbie, newbie

oh, BTW, if people actually check old newbie Posts after a reply or two is posted, and it is thus bad form to spam the forum with repeated new Posts, let me know and I will restrict any more of my questions that occur within a resonable amount of time on one post. for now, tho...

I have a ship set! a big one! very nice, built with photoshop...and they seem to be psd files. I managed to get one to turn to a bitmap, but the rest are unusable! arrrghh! anyone have any ideas? my poor Sauron Dominium languishes in photoshop heck!

Ahem

I was also wondering...I added a new tech area, and suddenly applied intelligence was not recognized. is there a maximum number of the various types of techs, IE expansion is only really allowed upwards?

BTW thank you to everyone for your quick responses to my Last post. I really appreciated the info. I should have the krill, norak, sallega, and various generic ai speech patterns up by the end of the week or whenever I figure out how to upload, whichever comes Last.

PSP is a real pain sometimes. I don't use it very often, but what you can do, I hope, is use a program called ACDSee to convert the PSd file to a bitmap. Its worth a shot, and it can be done rather quickly.

You can download ACDSee from www.download.com -or- The Older Version Is what I use.

I will try it for myself and see if it works. If it does not, then I will edit this post.

However, you can alwasy reopen them and save them as a BMP.

EDIT:

It worked fine. Convert away http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Once you have converted them, you might still wanna use PSP to resize the. Besure that it keeps them saved as BMP though.

If you like, you can email me your set and I will convert them for you and email them back. atrocities@attbi.com

Ahem, no, I should not think so. But was has happened can just be guessed without a look into your tech file. Maybe you have removed the area in the game setup settings ? Or you mistakenly have overwritten/copied/pasted something with your new tech areas ?

EDIT: I suggest to forward your techarea file to ATROCITIES [work for you http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif ] together with your images.

The most common culprit is extra blank lines between tech areas. IIRC, SE4 treats a double blank line as the end of the file. Are any other techs missing?

Photoshop requires you to "Flatten Image" on a multi-layered image before it will allow you to save as a BMP.

Sometimes you can avoid repeating questions by doing a search on the topic. This works better if you're good at guessing the right keywords to narrow the search, though.
