Crew served weapons abandonded in editor
Greetings,
I have a problem in the editor. I loaded paratroops into a transport but then discoved I had my cross loading wrong. I unloaded the plane but the mortar crew have abandoned the gun and I cannot rejoin. the 'J' key only seems to open the roster. If it makes a difference, I did change the type of mortar for the unit. I need the M224 in 1983 but the game dates have them unavailable till 1987. US Rangers and the 7th IDL had them before that date. Is there a way to rejoin or recrew them short of deleting and rebuying and changing? Thank you very much for you consideration. NB: I searched with "rejoin crew, abandoned gun, crew, rejoin, and paratroop weapon rejoin" but did not find a relevant post. |
Re: Crew served weapons abandonded in editor
You may have found a wee bug. This is a function I rarely use but the GG does say
<TABLE width="100%" border=1> <TBODY> <TR bgColor=#f1deb6> <TD bgColor=#e1b966 width="13%"> J </TD> <TD width="87%">Rejoins gun or vehicle crews unloaded from transport aircraft during deployment</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>But pressing J during deployment opens the unit roster which is not helpful to you in this case. ( FYI that was changed to calling up the roster from rejoining in 2013 but updating the GG was overlooked......I **think** there was some weirdness caused in rejoining but I'm confering with Andy about that ) That said if you load a mortar like that into a transport you will notice that it breaks the unit down crew/ mortar.......that is intentional, both drop separately and once on the ground the crew needs to be re-unitied with the mortar so they won't rejoin until you re-unite them in the same hex for a turn . So, in short.....that's the way it's supposed to work so mortars aren't dropped and ready to fire right after landing ...but the J shortcut useage needs to be corrected in the GG |
Re: Crew served weapons abandonded in editor
Thank you for the investigation. My major concern was, after unloading, I could not even reload the gun and crew into the plane since the gun was in an "abandoned" and "Fleeing" state. I saved the work in case there was a cure but have also started another copy of the battle with a new OOB from scratch. this time I will make sure of my crossload (historical to the action) before I load.

Re: Crew served weapons abandonded in editor
I tracked down the problem and it won't help you now but the issue has been corrected and the next patch you will be able to rejoin crews and guns unloaded from transport duing deploy with '"J" again ( and "K" will bring up the Roster )
