War Stories
I found several war stories; personal accounts of war, of bravery, comradery, and of relief, fear, and pain.
"'Take care of my buddy, take care of my buddy,' said the one who could still talk." A story shared by Linda Schwartz, during Vietnam's Hamburger Hill battle. Or, Tom Hunter's gripping account: "'Just tell Daisy how much I love her,' he told me, closing his eyes." A story from the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. From the first recounting, of the Battle of the Bulge to Iraq, these stories and others similar to these ought to be etched in our collective memories and shared from one generation to the next. Re: War Stories
Maybe I can make animations from those stories some day...
A bit off topic, but there's this book I really love, despite fiction (a novel), titled "Death is Lighter Than a Feather." Really gripping stories from a lot of characters, both Japanese and American, in the what-if invasion of Japanese home island (Operation Olympic & Koronet) Another novel, "Red Army" by Ralph Peters depicts the possible World War III in mid 80s, told from the perspective of Red Army soldiers from privates, pilots, tankers, to Army Group Commanders. |
