Strategic combat - stupid evasion
I have capital ship missile ships that are as fast as or faster than shorter ranged projectile weapon ships but keep losing them in combat because instead of running away during the two turn waiting period they let the projectile ships close. Is Shrapnel aware of this bug? Is there a work-around?

Re: Strategic combat - stupid evasion
What do you have the ships' strategies set to? Try changing them around a bit.
Do they have any other weapons besides the missiles? Mixing missile and direct fire weapons on the same ship can screw things up. Frex, if the movement strategy is Maximum Range, while the missle is reloading the ship moves to the other weapons' (shorter) range. |
Re: Strategic combat - stupid evasion
use missile only ships, and set them to max-ragne / dont-get-hurt.

Re: Strategic combat - stupid evasion
Actuaiiy don't set the stategy to don't get hurt or it will just run even from a helpless colony ship. The best strategy for missle ships is max weapons range. One more thing to be carefun of is the sencodary strategy, make sure is is set to max weapons range to (you can check this from the empire status/strategy window).

Secondary strategy: "This selection has similar items as the Primary Movement Strategy, however this is used, if the Primary selection cannot be accomplished. For example, if you choose Drop Troops for your Primary, but there is no planet to drop troops on, then your ship will follow the Secondary Movement Strategy." Try something more exciting, like : secondary - Ram/Kamikaze http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif EDIT: BTW, the primary/secondary movement strategies just work for the formations (fleets), the strategy for a single ship has to be set in the Design window. Actually it works for both. The strategies you set in the design window include secondary movement strategies; the same strategies are used for BOTH fleets and ships. Phoenix-D |

Ahem, you are right *blush*. I have mixed something here, break formation, fleet strategy and single ship strategy.
EDIT: I think I am in a mist at the moment. I should better go to bed. [ 23 February 2002: Message edited by: PsychoTechFreak ]</p> |
