Handling fighters in simeultaneous move
I have some fighters "in orbit" around a planet, some on a planet and a CV that just arrived. When I tried to move the fighters around I found I could only get the fighters on the planet into the CV. Presumably if I want to shuffle fighters around I need to 1) land them all on planet ("recover") then next turn I can juggle them?
Part of the problem is that some of the fighters are a kind I don't want, so I want to be able to transfer only the other kind. Is this intentional? Is there a way around it? It seems silly that you can't load fighters onto your ship because they are in space... |
Re: Handling fighters in simeultaneous move
Derb, as I see it, you have two options:
1 highlight the CV and press the recover units option and select fighters, this should load all fighters in the same sector as your CV (and in space) onto your CV subject to (i) your CV having sufficient cargo space for the fighters and (ii) the recovery capacity of your CV. The problem with this is that you cannot select which fighters are recovered on the CV. 2 the longer option is to highlight the planet and press the recover unit option and select fighters, next turn all fighters in space should then be on the planet and you can use the cargo transfer order button to move the type of fighter you want onto the CV. Hope this helps. |
Re: Handling fighters in simeultaneous move
Actually, if the planet has the space it's probably better to recover them to the planet and then use cargo transfer. Especially if there is more than one type of fighter in the group. You can then manually transfer exactly as many of each type of fighters that you want to the carrier. Launch/recover units has no controls for which units to recover or even numbers. It will just grab whatever units of the given type are present and launch them or recover them. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Re: Handling fighters in simeultaneous move
To move fighters between a planet and a ship, you need to use Transfer (hotkey T) or Load (L)/Drop (D) Cargo.
To move fighters between space and a ship, you need to use Launch/Recover Units (U) or Launch (I)/Recover (O) Units Remotely. In simultaneous, Launch/Recover will always use the maximum capacity of the ship, so you can't directly control what gets taken, as Baron M. said. What you could do, though, is launch all the fighters, then move the ones you want to another sector, and have the carrier pick them up there. |
