The Hetzer Has A Russian Gun
Here is a Hetzer. Notice the lack of a muzzle break:
http://i43.tinypic.com/nx3sw8.jpg It appears shorter than the German L/48. Here's a German TD, with a 75/48 gun: http://img09.deviantart.net/7a29/i/2...rkwizard83.jpg Does the Hetzer have a Russian F34 gun, L41.5? |
Re: The Hetzer Has A Russian Gun
The clue is in it's name ("Hetzer" was never official...) - it was called Jagdpanzer 38(t) für 7.5cm Pak 39 L/48...
Muzzle brakes often don't help to identify a gun. The barrel length is hard to establish from photos as much of it's length is within the hull of the JgdPzr. |

I must protest. I'm sure of it. |
Re: The Hetzer Has A Russian Gun
Your picture of a "Hetzer" is probably a post-war G13 modified to look like a wartime Jagdpanzer 38t. The G13 DOES have a different gun - a Pak 40 [75L43 or 75L46] rather than a PaK 39 [75L48]!

Re: The Hetzer Has A Russian Gun
Can you find a StuG III or IV without a muzzle break?
What's this, for instance? https://modelingmadness.com/review/m...rleystug4a.jpg Can you find a Hetzer with a muzzle break? I can't, on Google. |
Re: The Hetzer Has A Russian Gun
StuG has a different gun look at images of a Jagdpanzer IV/48 - same gun as Hetzer (PaK 39) can be seen with and without a muzzle brake... This is because whilst it was originally fitted with a brake, they found it kicked up huge clouds of dust when fired, betraying it's position, as it was close to the ground... This is why the same gun on an even lower platform doesn't have the brake on it's muzzle.
Ask yourself 2 questions: why would the Germans fit an inferior Russian gun at this stage of the war? and why in almost 75 years of research you are the only person on the planet to think this?! |
Re: The Hetzer Has A Russian Gun
The inferior Russian gun? Not necessarily. It may have been very powerful, more so than the German gun.
Without evidence, I might say the Russian gun is more devastating. |

There are penetration tables available as the allies tested both guns (and many more) - look it up! Whilst discussion based on research and documented sources is always welcome, flying in the face of 75 years of real research and 25 years of values and accuracy being tweaked and fixed in the game, is not! |
