Fixing the dreaded 0xc0000022 error with Windows 10 Content Creator Update
1 Attachment(s)
Ladies and gentlemen,
We recently got a number of tech support requests from players getting an error with our ATF Engine games (Armored Task Force, Raging Tiger, The Falklands War, and The Star and the Crescent). The error reads: “The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application” It took a ton of digging and trial and error, but we have found the issue. The problem is with the new Windows 10 Content Creator update. The update makes an unpublished change to DirectX that breaks ATF Engine Games (and a lot of other 2D games). Luckily, the solution is very simple.
This fix is ONLY needed for computers with Windows 10 Content Creator update installed. Other operating systems do not need (and should not use) this fix. In other words, if you are not getting the 0xc0000022 error, do not follow the above steps. Sorry for the issues. |
