Events.txt

Been messing around with this file tonight, and I thought I'd throw out a few FYIs. Haven't seen much on how this file works.

Anyway:
-Adding copies of a particular event makes it more likely to happen. SE4 apparently just picks an event from the list, with a slight bias towards lower-rated events.

-Settings.txt has the actual event chance %'s. However, setting that to 100% will NOT always gurrentee an event happning. More events in events.txt = more likely for that to work. As far as I can tell, SE4 doesn't like using the same event more than once or twice in a row.

-Pictures don't need to be 128x128. However, make them too big horizontal (past ~300 pixels) and they get chopped off. Make them too large vertical and your event message won't show up- and the event box won't scroll.

-Planets can be completely killed off without actually loosing the colony. It shows 0M/Xm people- Xm being whatever your race's domed colony size is.

-the "all" reporting option doesn't seem to work. Neither does WP- Open. WP- Closed works fine though.

Still messing with it.. I'll drop in anything else I find out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Events.txt

Good to see that you check this out. I am not sure, but I think some of the "percentages" seem to be more a per thousand, if you enter a 1000 this would be 100%.

Re: Events.txt

Maybe in events.txt, but the event lines in settings.txt isn't. SE4 barfs if you push it over 100.
