Odd Platoon Arty Spotting

1 Attachment(s)
In a current LC battle some of my platoons use squads other than the platoon leader's for arty spotting. In this save note that squads K2, L1, M2, P3, R3, V1 and AF1 can call in or shift fire while their presumptive platoon leaders cannot.

Apparently this is due to the fact that these squads are commanded by captains (or in the case of AF1, a major) while the "0" units are led by corporals. Weird, no--or has this been noted before?

Not at PC so havent yet run your save, but is this because K0, L0, etc have had their "0" unit killed at some point and K2, L1, etc have taken over? (this is borne-out by the fact that the "0" are led by corporals and the others by officers).

The "0" unit is only the platoon command squad at the start of the campaign - losses to these units mean that surviving units x1, then x2, etc become the platoon leader. Look on the Head Quarters screen the P (and C) before some units designate which are Platoon (and Company) Leaders.

This can be "fixed" between battles on the HQ screen by pressing the relevant button (CD only IIRC)

Got to a PC loaded your game:

I was correct - The platoon leaders ARE calling Arty - The platoon leaders are just not always the "0" units. Earlier in the campaign you must have had the "0" unit destroyed so command has passed to the next available squad in the platoon.

Open the HQ screen and you will see that your:
D, K, L, M, P & R platoons are ALL lead by a squad other than the "0" squad

The HQ screen in the deployment phase has a "Fix Formation Leader" button if this bothers you.

Many thanks Scorpio. That explains everything since the "0" leaders of those platoons were indeed killed earlier as their squads were wiped out. Yet another mystery solved. Cheers!
