The critical words in that article are "potential replacements"......I have lost count how may weapon systems that were added to this game that ended up being ripped out because " bright ideas" like " lets replace something that has worked great for 80 years" gets $hitcanned also note the requirement was to replace them for "Special operations Marines"...... that does not mean they will be replaced on vehicle mounts where weight is not an issue.

As well......Marines don't get rid of anything that works.....:). I'll bet there are 30.06 Springfields tucked away someplace

Yeah no kidding. Heck when I was in my M1919 colt worked just fine, I did have to aim to the left and up but after I learned that I could hit every time. Those slugs were big and could stop just about anything I think.

And your right I could see the "Special Operation Marines" dropping it for weight, but not not your average run of the mill jar heads (lol), love the Marines but why jump out of a perfectly good boat?

My 1911 was built in 1918 and work just fine......

I did read one comment that not too many people can claim to have been wounded by an M2.........:eek:
