Organic Armor - Whats the deal?

Does this stuff even work? *lol* I have run numerous tests and so far it just rots like wounded flesh... no healing for me... Can anyone shed some light? Or is it just a bug?... Thanks.

In order to see the organic armor work, you need to have multiples on the ship. normally 5 or 6, in order for it to work. To be honest, its not that great.

For my money, I like the crystaline armor as it reflects power back to ships.

Yeah crystal armor rocks...I used to love emissive, but it seems so faded down...

As for organic - dont suppose there's any way to mod that 5-6 requirement out, eh? *lol* It seems so useless...but a noble idea.

Every simulation I run though, no damage regeneration is visible... I been taken careful shots, too... to try and gauge it... Maybe its just the simulator?

I stacked like, 14 layers on as a precaution... *lol*

One OA must survive in order for regeneration. And, IIRC, the OA must be the only thing with the regeneration ability on the ship, and it all must be the same level (e.g., all OA mkII).

This could be improved in a mod fairly easily. Chop the 30kT armors into equivalent 5kT armors. One sixth the cost, size, damage, regeneration. Same as it is currently, only 30kT worth of armor CAN regenerate, as long as a 5kT chunk still exists.

Ok its worken... seems (as mentioned) there must be multiple, and then other armor types may interfere (they have so far, on my game), I cant determine soundly yet...
Regen seems to happen on the first hit of a new round, its almost like the crystal but reversed... and does seem cumulative, coz Im getten back way more than the listed amt... Any objections? I am barely getting it to work, so I could be wrong...

There's a really detailed thread on organic and crystal armor - try a search.

I'll just say that in Gold, organic armor seems to work quite well.

As long as there is at least one OA on the ship it will regenerate the other(s). I dont know how cumulative is it, but i know that when its one, it nothing better than a usual armor.

TIP - try using this armor at ramming ships, it works great. Take a BC, load it with engines, solar sail and organic armor. Ram. Ram again. Ram again. And so endless times.
The ship will never be completely destroyed, AFAIK.

That is the very best Ram Ship design I can think of for the first time, until the armor skipping weapons are developed (Null-Space) they are almost indestructable.
