Cuban Army Black Wasps

Does anybody know where I can find a TOE for the Cuban Army's Black Wasp Special Forces? They were deployed in Angola, and I'm told in Venezuela and Nicaragua. They were motorised, had 5 member rifle sections and were trained to use a large selection of small arms.

Military Unit 4895 is also another ID for them. Found a bunch of links to stuff on Reedit but not sure if that is a place you want to rabbit hole for days.

Not a TOE but it shows uniforms

Unless you are hoping for the ultimate divination TO&E ( which could change with the mission ) thinking The Russian Spetsnaz would be a good " close enough" model

I looked into this also shortly after you posted your request. All I could find was...
1. Crossed trained on many various international small arms of older vintage with exception of a couple of newer types.

2. It would seem they are "hard core" based on their training from the start under "actual" combat training i.e., live ammo and explosive detonation exercises.

3. Many of the units are of mixed personal meaning men and women.

4. This didn't make sense in that do you go with the written word or pictures? The word is the teams consist of 5 members but the pictures, even attached to the very few and same articles contradict themselves by showing 6 team members. A couple of articles did mention 5 or 6 team members.

6 sounds good it's an even number! ;) It's as good as any answer and might make better sense from a logistic point of view i.e., having a combat medical corpsman, radio operator and possibly a technical systems operator for SATNAV, Offensive and Defensive tracking devices and such other as needed etc. But all operators.

5. There are 5 known units plus a possible 6th that's directed towards anti-government activities. All are under the direct control of the leadership at the top.

So, in that respect they're (All units.) primary purpose is to protect the heads of state from anti-government and to act as an agent against any counterinsurgency operations.

6. Nice Unit Badges, appearing to have realistic under combat conditions ongoing training, would expect morale to be high and pride in unit "Espree de Corps" based on ceremonial type pictures shown.

There're a "Secret Unit" for a reason and being in a country like Cuba where the information is so tightly controlled and at times make it seem like China and Russia are open "democracies" by contrast.

Pat
