Apache stats
Hi everyone,
I am trying to get my feet wet with winSPMBT. I previously have played only the WW2 game. So I started testing some different tanks/AFVs and also helicopters. Now I am wondering why the Hellfire missles of an Apache helo have only 5400m range. From what I remembered and saw in other games they all have a total range of ca. 8km. :confused: The TI range of the Apaches is 40/60 in the different variants. Here I don't know, whether that's correctly reflecting reality, so I stick with it. Are the missle ranges shortened for balancing reasons, or because of effective use statistics? That's no complaint, I am just curious... ;) Another more technical question is, whether the status messages in the info field (the red/yellow part above the main map) can somehow by logged into a text file. I know one can review the other players turn with the 'V' key, but thats a bit tedious, if you have dozends of units in the game. :o The great warcab tool is great here for tracking unit progress for every turn. But I would like to track the incoming fire each turn, as well as the hit probabillities for my units, so I can learn, which manouver or tactics proves more effectiv. Any ideas? :) |
Re: Apache stats
If you have a question about units - ask in the TO&E thread, not the main one. Thread moved to crrect sub-forum.

Re: Apache stats
You didn't mention which OOB you are looking at but I will assume it's USA
You will find different ranges in USMC and some are longer. Wiki gives 8000m for some and 11000m for others It's on my to-do list to sort the various versions the problem is they are spread over about 30 OOB's and that makes it a royal PITA but a big issue is hitting anything at max range if max range is given........ think of what we do give as " effective range " |
Re: Apache stats
@Mobhack:
Ok, sorry for that! :-( @DRG: Yes it's the USA OOB. I already thought it that way. Good thing the game can be customized easily. ;-) Any idea on my other question? |
Re: Apache stats
Also, think of the maximum size of a map in the game - is there any point in being able to fire past the usual diagonal across such a map - and be charged the points for that range by the OOB points calculator?.
An AH helo is rather expensive as it stands, would you like to be charged say 10-20 points a missile more (times maybe eight or 16) for this added range that is not of much use on a normal or even a max-sized map?. As to piping the status bar text to a text file on disk - that could be done but its fiddly, and likely to blow past the maximum file size for a text file very quickly. And since the request is from just one end user in 25 years of the game's existence, well nope, not gonna happen... |
Re: Apache stats
@Mobhack:
As to the map size and points cost: Yes, that makes sense even to me. :-D And as to the text file logging. Well, I seriously wonder, that no one has ever lamented for having to remember dozends, if not hundreds, of incoming fire directions. It's the one thing I would complain about, if the game wasn't that great in so many other regards. ;-) Anyway, thank you for the prompt reply! |
