Game start issue
 

Happened sometime over the last five days.

When I start the game there's a 5/6 sec delay before anything happens then the screen goes black for slightly long before the game starts with the scenario list.

There is no splash screen or intro and I have made no changes to to game.

I'm assuming somthing changed on my machine but I don't recall making any but there was an update but I think this occured before the problem.

I'm usually pretty good at working this stuff out but his ones got me beat.
Any ideas?

I've tried MBT and that works as WW2 did when starting.

I never show the splash screen, so I just put it back on to test.

It first came up with a reduced window, inside something called an "active movie" on the title bar

But we use DirectShow, no "active movie" thing, whatever the heck that is!

I exited the game and on a whim tried again. That time, it came up as a stretched full-screen window with no borders and continued on doing so.

I then went to MBT and tried - after setting "show intro" to yes, it came up with the weird active movie window in a titled unstretched window. Exit the game fully & restart - and back to proper functionality

I think windows 11 updates may have gotten confused or updated something in DirectX

As to why you get black window - no idea, but probably related. Maybe your PC does not handle this "active movie" thing that briefly tried to take over DirectShow. Try again - and try switching "show intro" on and off and exit the game and do a full restart?

But its a Windows 11 thing, not us as DirectShow is a fundamental part of DirectX that has been around 20 or more years and is used all over the place by games and educational softwares, etc!
