TCP/IP Games...

Hmmm..... I was wondering if any of ya'll could help me out here. Me and my bro just bought SE4 Gold and we live an hour apart, so we wanted to start a IP game. But when we set everything up just like the book and stuff says to do it won't let either one of us connect to the host. I tried being host and it wouldn't let him connect, then he tried being host and same thing happened. Do any of you know what's happening here? But when I tried the game between my computer and my parents computer it worked just fine through IP connection. What's wrong? If any of you could help I'd be thankful!

Are either of you running a NAT firewall or something like Zone Alarm?

That is probably the issue.

Well I thought we weren't, but I forgot that I had a firewall set up. That explains it, thanks for suggesting that though.

You can still play with a firewall, you just need to open up certain ports.

Is there any hope of getting TCP/IP play to
work through a NAT firewall? I haven't
managed to get it working, even putting
my machine in the DMZ.

People say they are putting their machine in the DMZ... I rather thought that meant in front of the firewall, no? Therefore, your problem would be something else at that point.

Hmmm do you know what ports I would have to open?

They are listed somewhere in the back of the manual IIRC but don't ask me were exactly.

Page 96 of manual, UPD Messages on port 6716 and files on port 6720.

Ok, I opened the ports that it said to open. But it says the same thing? Anything that's being done wrong?... Let me know. Thanks!
