Getting PD ships to engage fighters
In one game I designed a ship without any weapons except PD to get rid of a threatening cloud of fighters. They did attack my planet in the end but my PD carrier ran off into a corner instead of engaging the fighters even though I specified "fighters" as the top target for attack. Do I have to include another weapon as an "excuse" to engage?

Derb, yes you do need to include another weapon on an escort vessel hull so it says up with the fleet
Personally, I tend not to use "short range" as a strategy for most of my fleet vessel so I set escort ships to this strategy, give them a CSM apiece (which keeps the range out enough so they dont get creamed) and then set first choice of target, fighters. Works a treat for me. |
