Techs that [must be found]
Hmm, I almost think I want to add massive planetary shields to the tech tree.
But then I see that Planetary Gravitational Shield Facility is already in place. Don't know... [ 27 March 2002: Message edited by: Arak Koba ]
|
Re: Techs that [must be found]
I'm curious...
What exactly do you need to do - at the most basic level, I'm not looking for a tutorial. :} - to add a new technology? Other than obvious play-balance testing, is it as simple as drawing a new graphic and adding an entry to one of the text files? As for your question... That massive planetary shield generator sounds interesting. But what would distinguish it from a standard gravity generator? - Cornelius Scarecrow esq. |

And it is not related to Planetrary Gravitational Shield. |

It's even simpler than that if you choose to use one the existing graphics pics like I have. |

But then I see that Planetary Gravitational Shield Facility is already in place.

This seems to need an explanation: Planetary Grav Shield only protects against the SW's Deathstar instant-death type weapons. Given one of these, your planet cannot be blown apart into asteroids (until the facility is destroyed) The Massive Planetary Shields are like ship shields. They absorb damage during combat, preventing the plasma bombs and antimatter torpedoes and wave motion guns from flattening your colony and weapon platforms and stuff.
quote:
Check out P&N mod and devnulmod. Researching shields level 14 to 16 gives you Large Planetary Shield Generators (no ifs ands or buts). If you discover a ruins, you get Massive planetary shield generators, which are roughly 50% stronger, and only require shield tech 3,6 or 9 for the three levels of generator. The level 3 facility in each Category provides phased shield points to the planet. |
