Just sat down for work and I started wondering about something. I am sure it has been asked before, but for ****'s sake we'll call it the question of the day.

Does the ancient racial trait help the AI in any way? If so, how?

Well, it will know about all the planets in the galaxy.

Pro:
- It can head directly to the best planets
- It will always know the shortest route to anyplace in the galaxy

Con:
- It can send colony ships across the galaxy to get to planets, and end up wasting huge sums of money on ships that will take decades to arrive, and find the planets taken by then.

Is not finishing and losing the same thing?

Depends on the situation.

A stalemate can be considered a win (survival for both parties).
If you quit when you control 90% of the galaxy, that's a win.

If you give up because your computer died of natural causes without a recent savegame, that's just unfortunate.
