Is anybody up to the task ? |
Re: SE IV Holy Grail
Oh my. For the non-proportions among us, perhaps we shold explain?
It would take....a darn long time. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Geo |
Re: SE IV Holy Grail
I assume you are talkming about proportions mod, correct? Well, that would make you unstopable. There would be an insane amount of power going on there.

Re: SE IV Holy Grail
Assuming SE4 doesn't crash because the turn numbers are too high before that. Even with a sphereworld totally full of population, that would take a while.

Re: SE IV Holy Grail
Phoenix what is this about high turn numbers crashing the game??
|
Re: SE IV Holy Grail
What he's saying is that the turn counter is likely to be only an integer number, and if you go beyond 65,536 turns it will cause a range check error.
That would put you into game year 8953.6, and real life year 2050. |
Re: SE IV Holy Grail
Well, SE4 doesn't like REALLY high numbers.
I figure once you hit around 64k turns- around year 8800- SE4 MIGHT crash. Stress might, I'm not that nuts. Haven't tried it. Phoenix-D |
Re: SE IV Holy Grail
This was my goal when I first played an earlier Version of proportions. I wanted to see the production rate of a fully populated sprereworld (at the time PvK had the pop modifiers set so that a fully loaded sphereworld would have a 2000% consruction bonus, or something like that). However, I gave up when I did the math and realized that it would take a minimum of 600+ years to fill the beast up (just with population).
Not to mention the fact that I was declared MEE when I decided that it would be a good idea to build three sphereworlds at once (it was a trinary system, I couldn't help it). That was also when I realized that the starbases that go into the creation of your sphereworld aren't actually destroyed, and so continue to add points to your score. 63 starbases can push it pretty high. |
Re: SE IV Holy Grail
I suppose that in order to be able play over 64.000 turns, you need to be one of the following:
a) an AI (possibly blocked in a single system by black holes b) deliberately trying to see if the game freezes or resets the clock to 2400.0, using the none-AI mod, simulating play on different machines, and batch-hosting it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif c) insane. |
