TOTAL Newbie Asks Stupid Question...

...OK I know if I colonize outside my starting sector, I have to follow up with a Transport...I built a Pop. Transporter, put in extra Crew Quarters, put in 50% Cargo...how do I get people on it? (Yes, it is already built.)

Thanks a ton!!!

Pass your mouse over the lit up icons while your ship is highlighted and you will find load/unload cargo (ie. population)

Re: TOTAL Newbie Asks Stupid Question...

The colony ships automatically pick up people if you give them the colonize order while they are sitting on (in orbit) a planet.
If you move them out of the system first, they have no way to load pop from outer space.

If you can see the planet you want to colonize, and your ship is still sitting over a populated world, giving the order to colonize the other system will work and bring people.

Re: TOTAL Newbie Asks Stupid Question...

Remember that ROCK colonizers can only colonize Rock worlds, and the same for Gas and Ice.

Be carefule when you send a colonizer to colonize especially if it comes from a small world with low population. The colonizer will try and fill its cargo holds with the planets population, and if there is only a million (1,000,000) population on the planet, the colonizer will not pick up any population.

Go thru all of the tabs, icons, whatever at the top of your game screen. Play with them, and experiment a bit. The WORLD looking on on the Left top once opened gives you access to a whole host of options when it comes to planets. Enjoy.

quote:
I wanted to split it 500/500 k each but couldn't transfer.

The basic unit of population in SE IV is 1M; you can't get fractions of that.

Thank you all http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif That was the problem--the planet didn't have enough people; I wanted to split it 500/500 k each but couldn't transfer. That explains it--thanks for all your help!
