Trying to make 3 types of shields...

Here's what I'm trying to achieve:

Electromagnetic Shields: Normal SE4 shields. Regenerates at slow rate. Doesn't stop laser weapons.

Gravitic shields: Probably the equivalent of phased shields. Should stop all non-dimensional weapons. Also regenerates.

Multi-dimensional shields: Stops everything, including hyper missiles and warp cannons (which jump dimensions).

Ok, now to the best of my knowledge SE4 can only handle 2 types of shields, phased and normal. I really don't want to drop the laser's ability to skip normal shields by making gravitic normal and only multi-d phased. On the flip side, I don't really like the idea of gravitic shields affecting hyper weapons, but I guess it's possible. To make the dimensional shields more distinguished from regular phased shields, I'm thinking of having them recharge their full strength every round, to represent the need to attack more dimensions than the shield can defend in a single turn.

Does that sound like it could be unbalancing? I think it would force ships to really gang up on a single target. Either that or I'd have to make the hyper weapons strong enough to be able to knock the shields down in a single turn, which would kinda negate the point of shields in the first place.

Comments? Suggestions?

Your multidimensional shields sound to me like they would be reasonably simulated by Organic Armor.

You've then got three levels of skipping, and all regenerate.

Actually, that might work, especially considering that I don't have any weapons that skip armor... Thanks!
