Atrocities, do you know if anyone has created shipsets for Lyran, Gorn, Kzinti and Hydran fleets?

Not at this time. I was under the impression that someone was working on them a year ago when I released the Trek Original Series set from Ghost.

If your interested in making the sets, by all means just ask the image authors if you can use thier images. Give credit to the right people, and general credit to those who's images you use but do not know whom they are.

I would make such sets my self, but I am honestly burned out right now. I have 4 sets in the works, sets that I am just sitting on until I get really interested in finishing them.

A complete set for the following races:
Vulcan (using images supplied by MrSchizoid as well as new ones, and custom DOGA created ones.)
Andorian
Kazon
Horogen

I sincerely doubt that I will release any more Star Trek Sets past the Vulcans. I am about 50% finsihed with them when I simply lost interest in everything. Hell I don't even know if there is a damand for these races at this point. Hell even the Star Wars races have not been updated for gold and that says a lot about where the interest in gaming has gone. (Andres no offense friend, RL is a pain in the ***, I know this all too well. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif )

I don't know who said it, but I believe, even more so now, that life delevers bad news all at once and all the time, while good news rarely and only in small bits and peaces.

I hope that I am not discouraging you from making any races, in fact, I hope that you do. I feel that many people would appreciate a new and exciting star trek race made by someone other than myself.

Do you want to know something else, no offense to the race's creator, but I have even taken an interest in doing a Vorlon set, fixing images and adding new ones. A complete revamp of Species 8472 without any Vorlon ships. I have most of the new images for 8472 ready to be rendered, but as I said, I am just burned out on everything and RL is really causing me some indegestion at the moment. (It'll pass I hope)

The Son'a were a pet project, and I really wanted to get them out because I loved Insurrection and felt that it got shafted by the fans. The Son'a were an interesting race, and one that I wanted to set the pace for. The same with the Breen. When I set out to make a Breen set, there were no images except for the one ship, for the Breen. I liked that, in fact, I truly enjoyed making unique sets either from scratch or from bits and peaces of other sets. When I developed 8472, there was no Vorlon set, and someone *****ed that I used Vorlon ships in my set. At that time I knew I had to eventually A: make a vorlon set myself, or B: Re-do 8472 without the Vorlon ships. I am opting for C: doing both.

I feel that Star Trek Ship Sets and Races are one of the biggest draws for SEIV. I know first hand that many of the customers who bought SEIV, here in the US, and abroad, did so because of the work that other, most notibly Warp_Nine, and I have been able to do in developing Star Trek races.

Thats one thing that often gets over looked, Warp Nines set the ton for the Trek races by doing many of them first. He set up most of the MAIN images, and even inspired me to do such races as the Breen, Son'a and the Dominion.

I credit him for making it possible, and I really would like to know what he thinks of the work that has been done based off of his work by all of the poeple who have developed Trek races.

No one else other than Andres has made Star Wars races. Why, because they are simply the best. The same for Rambie's EA and Narn set. I have spent the better part of a year and a half doing my best to make the trek races uinque onto themselves, and distancing them from the use of other races images. **Damn I did it again, off on a tangent. ***

NOTE TO SELF:

Never type and drink.

End of long winded off topic statement.

Your Trek designs are awesome and greatly appreciated by more than you may think. Unfortunately, the general populace are not always eager to give credit where credit is due. Having no knowledge in 3D design, I cannot fully understand the complexity involved in ship design, but I guarantee that I appreciate the work of others tremendously.

PS. I am so looking forward to the Vulcans. After finding a partial shipset somewhere, I spent nearly 3 hours scouring thw web for more ship pictures thinking I could put one together myself. But alas, I am not that talented.

that is a pity - if I knew how, I would 'borrow' the images from the Starfleet Command pc game - I love the hydran, gorn and mirak (kzinti) vessels from that game - the lyran ships with their feral look and catamaran hulls are awesome

As a long-time SFC player I can tell you how : just use Printscreen in SFC, paste in some paintstuff software, extract what you want, resize, and voilą ! You'll have SE4-usable icons ...

excellent, thank you for that, now all I have to do is to get SFC-Empires at War to work correctly (something about my directX mod) and I shall be a happy camper indeed.

You could do the print screen thing, or you could go here
http://www.blackopsstation.com/2002/main/0224/index.htm
and get the M6 model editor v2. If you do this, the amount of masking that needs to be done is almost nothing since the background is already totally black. You can position the ship any way you want to get the best looking angles too!

I’d also suggest using ACDsee to do the scaling, and if needed, adjust the brightness.

I’ve found I can do about 20 ships per hour that way.
