Problem with new shipset??
I have finally created my own race and shipset, but I am having a little difficulty figuring this one out. My ship set looks good when viewed with an image viewer, but in Andres Lescano's HTML viewer and in the game you can see the edges of the box and the image (in game) sort of distorts things as it passes over them. I double checked file size (128x128 & 36x36), but, as I am not really a graphics artist (just a really good cut and paster), I cannot figure this one out. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Problem with new shipset??
Check the masking, that is the only thing I can think of.
The best way I find to do this is to open up one of the ships that is causing problems in your favorite picture editor, then select a color, say red, and then fill the background with it, anything that doesn't turn that color of red is not pure black and must be changed, if the entire background turns red, then I have no idea. |
Re: Problem with new shipset??
That was it. When I magnified the image, I found a single pixel dark grey border all the way around. Wonder how that got there? Oh well, at least I now know how to fix it. Thanks

You mask the ship, e.g. invert the mask, fill the background with black, and the first two or three border pixels BEHIND the mask are affected also (they become a little darker). I guess this is why Atrocities recommends to use MS Paint at the end, to finish the bmp and remove the mask-problem pixels. |

If you want, I can take a quick look at what you've got.

Re: Problem with new shipset??
I will upload the set this evening for you to take a gander at, but I think I have the problem corrected. It is hard to play test as I don't normally use all available images (not in my game style) and they all look good in the html viewer but not always in game. Anyway, here is the link:
