alternate ship graphics?
How do alternate ship graphics work. It's my understanding that you could substitute a current ship graphic with another on the fly in SEIVg. Basically the VehicleSize.txt file has now a primary and alternative bitmap.
So how does this work? |
Re: alternate ship graphics?
What you can do is thus:
Primary bitmap name := SpaceHotel Alternate bitmap name := Starbase Where the primary is whatever you want, and the secondary is something you know they'll have. This is best used in combination with the Image Neostandard. |
Re: alternate ship graphics?
I still don't get where in SEIVg you would be able to change. How do you select the alternate ship picture while in the game? Or is this only for modders? I'm confused.

Re: alternate ship graphics?
Whenever the game loads, it will first try to load the primary bitmap. If that fails (ie, the files dosen't exist), then it will use the alternate bitmap. If that fails, you will probably get an error saying bitmap not found.

It is a mechanism for modders to make new shiphulls in their mod and have them use new graphics if available. And if the new graphics are not available, they will use the old graphics that they know everyone has. |

If that fails, doesn't it go to the racegeneric bitmap? I recall you used that for your battlemoons in P&N.. Phoenix-D |
