How does the game determine starting facilities ?

In standard game your starting planets have some mix of Mineral/Org facilities, a SY and lots of Research. This gives you say 2-3k research In Proportions they're instead crowded with Cultural Centers and start VERY productive (15-20K research). That's a pretty quick start... I didn't find in data files how it's handled, so is that hardcoded ? |

The game uses the *_AI_Construction_Facilities.txt file. There are entires in there for Homeworld. It doesn't actually specify facilities by name, but rather looks for facilities with certain abilities. In the case of Proportions the Cultural centers produce the most (In some cases the only available) of the needed resources so they are selected by default for the starting homewolrds.

But in this case one just have to use the "bogus" Proportions facility abilities in this file to make game put "normal" installations (and a couple of CC) instead (cf my post on Proportions AI yesterday) ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif PvK, am I right ? |
