Adding Empires mid-game

Damn, this is one thing I have yet to see implemented. Was just thinken about it while reading the story thread... I liked how in SE3 new empires would rise up from an anarchist revolt... Has anyone seen that happen here? Would love to be able to give "birth" to a new race during the game, could be interesting. Hadi-capped if he came in late, but hell.

New races don't just pop up out of nowhere, but they do break away from other empires.

The problem is usually that they will surrender immediately because they are so weak.

That would kinda suck - for an AI... but not a human player. I would enjoy the challenge. Maybe find a good ally and secretly trade some techs... all the while my ships appear old and obsolete... then - bam, guess who the new force in the sector is? LOL

I love game-changing events like that.

I had it happen to me once about four games ago. One of my planets broke away and then opened up trade negotiations with me. They even built a few ships, mostly destroyers though. I would like to see it more often myself. It would be kind of like a civil war within an empire.

This is the kernal of an idea I suggested to Malfador. They responded that they liked the idea, but that it's not a real high priority. Hopefully that means someday rather than never.
