AI Questions, part 2
 
Working on my mod, going ok except for one snag. I've created a racial trait which, among other things, allows colonization of all three planet types from the beginning. The problem was, I couldn't get the AI to build anything but gas giant or ice colony ships. They designed all three types, but they never built rock colony ships. So I went into the Construction_Vehicle.txt file and changed all of the "Colonizer" entries to a combination of Colony (Rock), Colony (Ice), and Colony (Gas). (Thanks to whoever wrote that great renumbering program! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif ) Now, the AI won't build anything except rock colony ships. They have their original 10 gas giant homeworlds and around 95 rock colonies. Any ideas?

You can make a universal colonization component that is available by this racial trait. Just add additional abilities to this component, so it can colonize all three types (look into Devnull Mod if not sure how to do that).

The best part of this is that the AI uses its colony ships with no regard to their designation. So, I have seen Colony (Rock) ships colonize gas planets and vice versa.
