Newbie needs help

Hey everyone, I just got SE4G and its great, but I have a few quick questions. ABout the ring and sphere worlds, I'm still confused about how to build them. ALso, what exactly are they, what are there abilities, is it like building a new planet?
Oh, and any general tips for a begginer?

Ring and sphere worlds are really, really big planets.

To build them, you need:
-high levels of Stellar Manipulation
-the Starbase
-cruiser class or higher ships

Build one starbase with the Generator component (AT THE STAR, so you must use construction ships). Then build 5 (10 for a sphere) plating starbases and 5 (10 for a sphere) cable starbases. You might want to use multiple construction ships, otherwise this will take a very long time.

Ok, so the (Dyson) Sphere is nothing more than a really big planet? It gets no other advantages even though its built around a star. oh and which one is better to build around a star, and can a star still go nova if you build one?

They have about 5 or 10 times the normal facility space of a planet. Now fill it up with weapon platforms and i want to see how you conquer it...

Really big planet is something of an understatement. A sphere is something like the size of *20* large planets! Over 100 facility slots, 20+ billion population max, massive amounts of cargo space..

the Sphere will give you twice the room and max population than the ringworld. However It takes almost twice as long to build. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I really don't know... anybody out there ever have such a star go nova?

I have not, however it stands to reason that an unstable star is an unstable star, regardless of what might be near or around it.

Yes, but that would be using Real World Logic.

In other words, in SE4 that isn't the case. The star can't go supernova within a ring or sphereworld.

Re: Newbie needs help

So, if you come across an unstable star, just build an RW around it and you're good to go?

You're good to go period actually. As far as I can tell, that partiular ability doesn't DO anything.
