Why Domed colonies on green dots
This is my first game and I'mmaking all the classic mistakes, have been helped by this forum, thanx.
I play with a methane gas giant as home world. Now I've found my first planet that has a green dot, a large gas giant with methane and mild conditions. When I build my colony there it's domed. Am I doomed to have domed colonies forever? My homeplanet that is a methane gas giant isn't domed. |
Re: Why Domed colonies on green dots
Check the race that you are putting on the domed colony. If it is mixed race or not your original race this would explain it. If it is your original race and is still domed, Unknown?

Re: Why Domed colonies on green dots
I don't quite understand the question, can I send out other races than my own.
I only have contact with one other race and I 'm going to attack him next turn.
quote:
Originally posted by Gandalph: Check the race that you are putting on the domed colony. Re: Why Domed colonies on green dots
Can I e-mail my savegame file to someone who can explain why the colony is domed. When I do f4 both my colonies are gas giants methane, the medium is my homeworld and the large is domed.

Re: Why Domed colonies on green dots
Also IIRC if you send your colonizers with no populations, they are domed. IIRC all colonies are considered domed until thy get population. Do you have colonists???

I expect you will find 4,000 Million on your homeworld, and Zero on your colony. When there are zero people, it puts the domed symbol up. |
Re: Why Domed colonies on green dots
BIG THANX; this really worried me, now I'm relieved.
Ofcourse there are 0 people on the planet. The newbie I am hadn't put any colonists on the ship! Re: Why Domed colonies on green dots
You can get races that breathe other atmospheres by using Ship Capture against Colony Ships and Population Transports, or successfully invading their planets with Troops.
With other human players, you can arrange to trade loaded transports. |
Re: Why Domed colonies on green dots
We should start refering people to Malfadors Q&A section. A lot of these "Can't colonize" question can be answered simply by reading the Malfador Q&A section. Malfador Q&A

(This assumes you have long range scanners, or you are a good guesser. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif ) Just offer to trade something for the transport you want. The AI doesn't seem to assign any value to colonists in a transport. [ 07 May 2002: Message edited by: Baron Munchausen ]
|
