Possible Idea for a SEIV spinoff game (or just a feature for SEV if there ever is one
Something along the lines of. Space Empires: Tactical Ground Combat. It would be like tactical space combat, only on the ground. As a spinoff game it could perhaps have campign missions with a story?(mabey those whimpy little nuetrals finally get some guts and decide to invade the rest of the galaxy). Mabey even important SE save files for unit designs?? Or if tactical ground combat was just a feature in the next SE game it would make ground combat much more interesting.

It's been suggested before but I think it was said that it would take too long to finish a game.

It's possible.
From what I understand thus far is that MM is going to be making a set of smaller games for now to develop the stuff for later titles. I know Dungeon Odyssey is currently at the top of the list. The next is going to be Quadrant Wars I think. Quadrant wars could be anything from a ground combat game to an Online ship-to-ship slugfest. I don't know for that game. Space Empires V might come, but who knows what it'll be. |

What I would like to see is a more complex resource and research system. Say instead of 3 types of resources you have 20 basic resources (a,b,c,...,t) and each resource can be combined with up to 2 others to make a 3 resource group (abc,abd,..feh..rst) and each group has to be researched to find out what it can be used for (weapons, propulsion,...shields, etc). What would make it best is that each solar system only has 5 resources max. It would force a player to explore and expand to find and exploit the other resources it needs to research the entire tech tree.
Just a thought. |

that would drive me nuts just trying to build an escort, let alone soemthing good with guns and shields. The beauty of SEIV is that you can concentrate on the diplomacy and overall strategy while still enjoying micromanagement hell from time to time. But hey im open to anything from Aaron

HP Delron. I have voiced those idea's before.
Also that Space combat takes place over the entire system where everything comes into play and it is all tatical. But the problem is that no-one has the time for that. It took me a while to figure out that the current system works. I would still like more control over space combat and I am hoping for it. I think Scripts would be the answer. So you can create Battle scripts. Ie... Create the script in the simulator. Save it and add it as a tatical combat script for that fleet ( Or something like that) If you want to do a spin off. Have the people fight out ground combat in a TA style game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif And homeworld for space battles http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |
