Two questions
Like the topic says.
The first one: there is that button "fire untill all weapons are gone" in strategies window. Whats the use of it? if your ship has MultiTracking, then you just wasted the space. if you dont, you dont need the order. Second: recent questions about MultiTracking reminded me of a question i had a while ago: PDC and MultiTracking: When PDC does fire on automated mode, it does not take any MultiTracking targets. Though when used on manual fire (selecting and firing) it does do so, at least to my knowledge. SOmething here is wrong. |
Re: Two questions
Maybe "Fire all weapons till hostile weapons are gone"?
Maybe the manual is wrong. PDC's fire defensively and independent of Multiplex tracking. |

I don't see the problem with multiplex targetting being used by manual tagetting. That's what it's for. Automatic PDC fire is defensive only. If you want to go on the offensive with your PDC you are going to use your multiplex allowance. |
Re: Two questions
It means "fire until the target has no remaining weapons." I don't know if it works for planets (WPs), drones, sats, fighters, etc. or not.

"The first one: there is that button "fire untill all weapons are gone" in strategies window.

IIRC this order means your ships will target the enemy ship till all its weapons are destroyed, then move on to the next ship (presumably coming back and destroying it when all enemy ships are weaponless). This was implemented to prevent your entire fleet going after a ship when all it has is ECM III on it vs. a ship that is still fully functional a few spaces away. |
Re: Two questions
Haha, all four replies saying the same answer.
This has got to be a first http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif |

Re: Two questions
thanks. that clears it out. Useful button indeed.
I'll test it with planets, seems promising. As for the PDC i still dont see how defensive fire is different from offensive fire in the proccess itself - targeting is still targeting, and it doesnt matter why you target - to shoot, to defend or just for fun! CapnQ: lol yeah, i was the second or third |
