New PBW game: Turn Blitz #1

Open to all, this is a unique game that I expect to Last only a week or two!

This is an unmodded v1.67 (Gold SE4) game, with TDM 3.10.

The key feature of this game is the fact that the turns are exactly one hour long. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif
What you will have to do to play this game is choose a TDM AI to partner with.
Take as many or as few of the turns as you like, and the AI will play while you eat, sleep and/or work.
The winners will be the players who survive to see a galactic peace that Lasts one whole Real-life day (24 turns).

Any questions?

Edit:
PvK reminded me of something: How do we get a fair start when people are playing from different timezones?

How about we start with the first turn at 12 hours long on a Friday... turn two will be 6 hours long, turn 3 will be 3 hours, turn 4 will be 2 hours, and the rest will be one hour.

(-5 Timezone (RED on map))friday: 7pm, saturday: 7am, saturday:1pm, saturday: 4pm, saturday: 6pm, saturday 7pm, ...

Those in europe will get saturday 2am, saturday 2pm, sat 8pm, sat 11pm, sunday 1am ...
People in the west US & canada will have to get up 2 or 3 hours earlier than me.

Overall, players in the western states & canada will have trouble with turn #2, while those in Europe will have trouble with turn #1. The rest of the turns seem OK to me.

Additionally, I can run the first few turns under full AI control before beginning with the system described above. That way the first player turns won't make as much of a difference.

Just to let you know. Your turns may not run at precisly one hour intervals. PBW is set up that once it processes a turn, it waits five minutes before attempting to process the next avaialbe game. This is to prevent some system probelms that we had early on. The result is that if your game tries to run at the same time as a couple other games it could get delayed.

I ran a test once of one hour turns and the longest it took was an hour and 20 minutes on a couple turns. Hope that isn't an issue for you.

If the first turn takes an hour and 20 minutes to process, will the second turn process 40 minutes later, or the full hour?

An hour would be the minimum assuming that when the hour was up there were no other games processing at that moment. The hour turn clock shouldn't start till the turn finishes processing the previous turn, not when it starts.

It would kind of suck if you were 15 minutes into doing your turn and the turn processed due to timeout before you could upload it.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That was one of the things that I had to think about before I signed up; I've been known to spend two hours on a single PBW turn.

I suppose it dosen't really make a difference whether there are 23 or 24 turns per day.

It would be harder to pick the right time to sit down to play, but once you log in, you can figure out when the next turn is due from the game information screen.

Yeah, that would be the important part. Making sure you check how much time you have left. It would kind of suck if you were 15 minutes into doing your turn and the turn processed due to timeout before you could upload it.
