changing of components
Is it possible to change some components of existing ships?
Example: I'd build a ship with "Capital Ship Missile 1" and now "Capital Ship Missile 2" is researched. Now I want to change the old component with the newer one. |
Re: changing of components
You want to Retrofit the ship. It is in the main command bar, the green triangle made up of 3 arrows. You must have a Spaceyard in the same sector as the ship to retrofit. All the new components will be put in as broken, and will have to be repaired (which the spaceyard can do). (This is especially important if you retrofit to new engines. The new engines will all be installed as broken. No engines = no supplies = I hope you have a resupply depot in the same sector. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif )

Re: changing of components
To complement previous answer : first step is to go to design and "Upgrade" the design, hop you get instant use of newest Versions of stuff keeping your previous design arrangement http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Rename the thing then go retrofit ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif Personnally if I call basic design "Stuff" for example I'll call upgraded Versions "Stuff MkII" then MkIII etc, It helps identifying "series" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: changing of components
Also, be wary of upgrading a space factory!
Since you have a spaceyard on the base, you are allowed to retrofit, but when you upgrade the yard component, it will start out broken and unable to repair itself! I did that once, and had to send a repair ship halfway across the galaxy http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif |
