User Interface glitches
I'm curious if anyone else has emailed Aaron about some extremly easy to fix user interface glitches?
For example, instead of clicking the OK button, you should be able to just press the ENTER key. Or, if you press the ESC button, then this is identical to pressing Cancel. This is extremely easy to do. It may not be glamorous programming, but I think it Those stupid banner ads at the top of the forum advertising Remote Assault are getting really, really annoying. I wonder if they could adjust the refresh rate down so that they don't cycle faster than every tenth of a second. As I was... No forget it. I can't quite finish this post with that busywork distracting me. I've got to go out and buy another Shrapnel Game! |
Re: User Interface glitches
Another thing I dislike about the user interface is that the game doesn't remember what you've selected. For example, let's say you have 20 ships in orbit around a planet. You select one of the ship and then press the Refit button. The game isn't programmed in such a way that it selects the ship you had selected before you pressed the Refit button. So you have to scroll all the way down the list until you find that ship again. Very, very annoying.
When the game starts, I will add my favorite races such as the Rage, the Klingons, the Xi'Chung etcetera. Then, I have to go back and set them to computer control. As I add the races, it would be nice if the most recently added AI was selected instead of the first one. Similarly, it would be nice if after you selected one, edited it, turned on the AI and created the empire that it would remember which one you had most recently selected. Instead, it just goes back to the first one. Very sloppy programming in my mind! Do you wonder if maybe the forum knows that I've already bought SE4 Gold? Maybe that is why the SE4 banner ad isn't animated? Or maybe it is just prejudice by Shrapnel against SE4? Hey, I think the SE4 ads should be just as annoying as the Remote Assault ads!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: User Interface glitches
Yeah, the help says that it does accept ENTER for 'OK' and ESCAPE for 'Cancel'. We've been pointing the discrepancy out to MM for some time. As with everything else, he's very busy and probably keeps loosing track of it in the scramble to do so many things.
At least he fixed the jettison cargo window in the Last beta. You can finally choose how much of each cargo type to dump! Now for filtering non-relevant ships out of transfer cargo and launch/recover units... [ June 09, 2002, 02:57: Message edited by: Baron Munchausen ] |
Re: User Interface glitches
And wouldn't it be nice if you could go around right clicking on planets to find the one you want without loosing your selected ship? Seems to me SEIII had this.
