Ground combat details
Can somebody explain, with all the details, how ground combat works? I'm trying to mod the thing and I realised that even though I've been winning just about every GC I fought so far I don't know how it works! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif
Does weapon range matters? Do offensive and defensive bonuses work the same way like ships? Which side shoots first? Does the strategy affects GC at all? |
Re: Ground combat details
Weapon range does not matter.
Weapon reload rate dosen't matter either, IIRC. (Everything fires every turn) Troop Shields were not working, and have been recently patched. I'm not sure if that was part of the most recent public patch or not. |
Re: Ground combat details
I belive the following is also currently true:
Troops follows the "FLFD", (First Loaded First Deployed". model. First Deployed, First Targeted, (shot at) (I'm not sure of this) First Deployed, First to Fire Strategy, Load troops with nothing but Armor first Then load your troops with the heavyist weapons, (to take out his heavyier weapons). Then load your troops with the lighter weapons, (to do mop up) Troops inherit the Experiance Level of the thransport. Troops with only a Cockpit will still act as fully armed troops for purposes of keeping the population happy. Question: Do Weapons Platforms or Fighters help defenders? |

Where did you get the information that the troops inherit the transport's experience level? If it's true it suggests some really important uses for ship and fleet training but how the heck was this determined? [ June 12, 2002, 21:12: Message edited by: Baron Munchausen ] |
