... once you've designed a ship -- can that design be saved to use in new games?

Speaking of designs -- can a re-supply ship be created?

I'm playing the demo until my CD arrives.

But Yes, once you design a ship you can save it for later use in a game. But you have to use the same race as you are using in that game now. To do this go to to Game Menu, (the little white clipboard, top left corner) and click "Save Empire" it'll pop up and ask you if you want to save designs with empire, choose yes and you have them saved.

Re-supply ships: yes you can make these. Make a design with supply containers and take it around and re-supply your fleets, and once you receive the Quantium Reactor you'll never have to do this again. Just put the reactor on your ships and they will NEVER run out of supplys.

First: Yes. Save your empire and it will ask you if you want to save the designs. You can only build them if you have the tech, though.

Second: Yup. Just build a ship and load it up with Supply Storage, or later with Solar Panels or 1 Quantum Reactor.
