I like the irregular ships-at-various-distances-some-overlapping-each-other pattern used in the shipsets that came with the game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif Or maybe something out of Formations.txt... no, that would be confusing if you had a Bull fleet pictured as Flying V!
