Modding - Gold vs. Standard
Does anyone know what differences there are between the Regular and Gold Versions of the Data text files? Are they written differently, or did they just add some new lines, or what?
My problem is this: I am working on a mod which will include changes in at least technology and components. I have the standard 1.49 Version; it may be some time before I get SE4-Gold. I want to know what modifications I make now will be useless when I finally get Gold. Prophet |
Re: Modding - Gold vs. Standard
Gold adds a number of lines to certain AI files (ai_settings.txt, for example). The percent chances in Quadranttypes.txt (and possibly a few other files) were changed from percents to tenths of a percent. ie: from 1-100 to 1-1000. Most of the data files can be ported to Gold with little to no changes.
I'm sure someone else can be more specific than me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: Modding - Gold vs. Standard
In general, any changes you make in 1.49 will be compatible with gold.
Some things such as Engines Only damage have changed, so keep an eye on the history.txt for the latest patches. Upgrading your mod to Gold will be quite simple. A few search-replaces, a few added lines in settings.txt, and adding the alternate bitmaps for the vehicles. Then you can play around with all of the new options available and expand your mod. |
Re: Modding - Gold vs. Standard
Thanks for the help. I figured there wasn't much difference; I noticed some already posted mods were relatively quickly converted to Gold. I just wanted to make sure.
If anyone thinks of any other changes, please post them. Prophet |
