New PBW Game Idea
I had an interesting idea for a PBW game. It would be a 5000 point start, but every player must take 2 racial tech traits. I'm thinking of setting it up so that all races start with level 1 in the theoretical racial techs. Also, at least APBs, DUCs, and PPBs would be disabled, to encourage the use of the racial weapons. Does this sound interesting?

I would be interested in this concept, however, I think the techs should be manually assigned, I wouldn't want to see 5 Religious/Psychic in the same game, and only that many players, as many different combos as there are. Although I studied the laws of probability in high school, let's just say it's been many years and many beers.

Well... that depends on how many people want to play what combinations.
The game would definitely be open to all. I'm thinking maybe a 7 or 8 player game. |

A game like that would be interesting under SJ's P&N, where there are crossover techs for the racials...

Since I am now offically out of one game, I can join another. I would play a race with Temporal Psychic abilities.

Cool idea. I have used 2 race traits in a couple of PBW games already. Was fun http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif . I don't think that everyone would take psychic/religious (well, as it stands at least Atrocities and myself wouldn't). I haven't played P&N in ages, why would it take forever to get your empire anywhere? Devnull Mod also has crossover techs (if I remember the readme correctly, they were taken from an early P&N Version), but I find them not very well balanced. Some race combos don't get anything and others get real scary stuff like the accelarated psychic sensors. As a matter of fact, I am in the middle of on overhaul of the combo techs. Adding some new ones, tweaking others, and also making AIs that will use them. err, sorry, getting OT...

I like the idea to turn APB and PPB off, but DUC should stay. otherwise you'd have only misiles to play with at the game start. |

Do you want me to send you a few savegame files from the P&N PBW game I mentioned? The population modifiers are changed drastically. Small colonies build slowly. Ships cost fewer minerals and a lot more organics and radioactives, so you have to develop more of those facilities before you can build very much. 3000 points limits your options to take other racial advantages too.
