Race AI creation
 
Question for experienced modders: I am creating...slowly...a highly aggressive and reckless race for use as an AI opponent. Rude communications, complete disregard for combat losses, endless search for the biggest BOOM, backstabbing, toothless, scurvy, and erratic...and all that. What are the best ways to make bring out this uninhibited deeeaath in an AI player? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Some of what you want to do starts in the AI_Anger file. Check out the Rage for some ideas there. The other thing I did with the Rage was to concentrate on combat technologies very early. It actually hurts them a little in the later parts of the game since their infrastructure can be a little underdeveloped. They are a real pain to encounter in the early to mid-game, though.

I am in no way saying that I am an experienced modder, but the way I learnt was to throw different ai files from different races together and then test and try different settings. For what you want, certainly try some Rage ai files first.

I also certainly DONT thank 'Alpha Kodiak' for the Rage, everytime I play a solo game, the Rage starts next to me, enters my home system within 5 turns and proceedes to splatter me. Yet still I ensure they are in my solo games. Thanks Alpha Kodiak, I think. :-P
